Critical Care Units

CVICU

CVICU is a critical care unit that cares for acutely ill patients that require close hemodynamic monitoring. In CVICU, you will see a potentially wide range of patient populations, but mainly focused on cardiac related illnesses. CVICU recovers patients directly after open heart, thoracic, vascular surgeries. They also may take patients from the Emergency Room, Catheterization Lab, and any other area that has a patient requiring a higher level of care.

Intensive Care – ICU

Kaweah Health’s Intensive Care Unit consists of 21-beds and cares for patients that need a higher level of care due to a complex medical condition like Neurologic Injury, Trauma, or complex surgery. The Registered Nurses have no more than 1 to 2 patients in order to devote the time required to monitor patients closely. Skills require advanced critical care concepts like Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring, Advanced Neurologic Assessment, 12-Lead and Pulmonary Classes.

New and upcoming nurse graduates that are new to critical care are required to complete Kaweah’s Critical Care Residency Program. This program facilitates entry into the critical care environment, combining practical and applied clinical experiences and comprehensive didactic learning. Successful candidates will review case studies, clinical simulation, and skills training. Upon successful completion, you will demonstrate effective clinical judgment in providing quality patient care that is so crucial for the patients in our community.

ICCU-3W Intermediate Critical Care

Kaweah Health’s Intermediate Critical Care Unit consist of 31-beds and cares for patients with a wide range of critical care needs. These patients are not stable enough for the general med/surg floors, but not acute enough for ICU.

The patient population consist of a variety of diagnosis, mainly focusing on neuro, strokes, respiratory distress, cardiac, gastrointestinal, renal, sepsis, and much more. The patient to nurse ratio is 3:1.

New and upcoming nurse graduates new to critical care are required to complete Kaweah’s Critical Care Residency program. This program facilitates entry into the critical care environment, combining practical and applied clinical experiences and comprehensive didactic learning. Successful candidates will review case studies, clinical simulation, and skills training. ICCU-15 5T Intermediate Cardiovascular Care

CV-ICCU patients are intermediate ICU level of care with an emphasis on cardiovascular disease processes. This unit is equipped with state-of-the art technology and provides every opportunity to provide world class-care to our community. Case types include: Status post Open Heart Surgeries: Status post Vascular Surgeries, CHF Exacerbations, Pulmonary Embolus or other DVT requiring advanced fibrinolytic therapy, Status Post TAVR.
