Community Volunteers

For adults of all ages: Help in our offices, work with our teams, or share your therapy animal! Volunteer and make a difference today!

Many Ways to Serve the Community

As a community volunteer, you will provide a vital link between Kaweah Health and the people we serve, using your life skills while helping people around you. Our community volunteers assist the many groups that work at Kaweah Health such as our medical units, non-clinical medical teams, finance, support services, and more. Volunteers must be 16 years old or a high school junior and willing to commit to four hours per week for at least six months.

Being a community volunteer will give you amazing opportunities to share your life experiences
with others and make a positive impact on your community.

    • Kaweah Health offers certified therapy animal owners the opportunity to visit patients. Therapy animals are specially trained and undergo a certification process in order to volunteer in a hospital setting. Therapy animals visit inpatient locations to provide affection and comfort to patients and our teams.

To be part of the Kaweah Pet Therapy team, the handler and dog must complete the AKC Canine Good Citizen certification and provide documentation of appropriate vaccinations and training. The pet will also need to be a certified therapy animal, not a service animal. This is because not all service animals have the temperament to be a therapy animal.
