It would be an understatement to say Bob Chavez loves Disneyland. Before moving to Visalia in 2000, the 62-year-old social worker spent nearly every night for five years at the magic kingdom with his daughter Becca.

“She thought she owned the place,” Bob said.

But in Bob’s late 50s, pain in his hips and knees took over. He was in pain sitting at work and laying in bed. He relied on a motorized cart to go from Fantasyland to Frontierland. “It was a crummy way to see Disneyland,” he said.

With Donald Schengel M.D.’s help, Bob underwent four total joint replacements in 18 months at Kaweah Health – both hips and both knees. Today, he is pain free and can see Disneyland on two feet.

“The biggest benefit is not being able to walk again, it’s being able to enjoy being free from the pain,” he said. “There just aren’t words for that.”
