Medical Student Rotations
Medical Student Program
Kaweah Health is a designated Level III Trauma Center with a new helipad and a busy emergency department with over 90,000 annual patient visits. We are a large institution with eight campuses. Our West Campus includes a busy, acute 50-bed inpatient Mental Health Hospital. We have a newly constructed Family Medicine Center and are currently expanding our Emergency Department.
Medical students who elect to perform their rotations with us will benefit from the diverse patient population. Our faculty is motivated to teach and we offer more one-on-one time with attending physicians than traditional academic centers. This translates to more practical, useable knowledge at the bedside to prepare you for residency.
We have strong residency programs in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Psychiatry, Anesthesiology and Transitional Year. Their success is due to dedicated faculty who improve their programs continuously, frequently based on residents input.
We provide a robust educational experience to medical students performing rotations in both core and electives in a wide variety of medical surgical specialties. Each core and elective rotation has dedicated didactic sessions and multidisciplinary educational sessions dedicated to medical student education. All our students, regardless of rotation, will have the opportunity to participate in our community outreach programs. We want you to experience the partnerships that Kaweah Health has developed to better serve and advocate for our community projects; Street Medicine, Health Promotors Program, Good Samaritan Free Clinic, Walk with the Doc, Stop the Bleed and many more opportunities.
Come Join Our Medical Student Team! We look forward to having you!
