Kaweah Health will be adjusting visitor restrictions for patients who are not in isolation for COVID-19

Effective March 23, 2021

Visitor Guidelines

Kaweah Health understands the importance of having a loved one with you during hospitalization. We are taking measured steps to allow visitors at our downtown campus. Our visitor guidelines will continue to be modified to protect the health and safety of our patients and team.

For Admitted Patients

  • One visitor per patient per day. Visitors can alternate from day to day.
  • Expanded visiting hours:
  • 10 AM to 9 PM
  • Critical Care area: 10 AM – 5 PM and 7 PM – 9 PM

For Surgery and Emergency Department Patients

Due to COVID space restrictions, visitation will be limited in the lobby.

  • Emergency Department (ED) - Once in an Emergency Department (ED) room, adult patients may have one (1) symptom-free visitor and pediatric patients may have two (2) symptom-free visitors.
  • Surgery/Cath Lab - one symptom-free visitor during the hours of operation (5:30 AM - 10:30 PM) for pre-op and post-op only. During the patient’s surgery, you will not be allowed to wait in the medical center.
  • Exceptions will be evaluated by unit leaders.
  • Visitor guidelines vary at other Kaweah Health locations. Contact each location for more information about their guidelines.

All permitted visitors will be:

  • Screened for symptoms of COVID-19 including:
  • Fever
  • New cough
  • New shortness of breath
  • Loss of smell or taste
  • Required to wear a surgical facemask.
  • If you do not have one, one will be provided to you.
  • If you prefer to double masking, the bottom mask must be a surgical mask or higher (i.e. your own N95 mask).

Restricted visitors include:

  • Individuals with COVID-19 symptoms
  • Children 12 years of age and younger
  • Individuals in quarantine for COVID-19 reasons (pending testing, exposure, etc.)

For inpatients, visitors must remain in the patient’s room. They may leave the patient’s room only to use the restroom or get food from the cafeteria. If visitors go to the cafeteria, we encourage them to return to the patient’s room with their food. Once visitors end their visit and exit the room, they must immediately leave the medical facility.

This guide is for acute inpatient visitation only. Please refer to outlying campuses for their visitation policies.
