Message From Kaweah Health on the Use of Social Media and Contact with Media

Wed 3/18/2020 11:31 AM

More than ever, our community is carefully watching our response to COVID19. During this time, many have turned to Social Media to express their thoughts and opinions regarding this situation. Unfortunately, recent Social Media posts by our staff members have reflected negatively on Kaweah Health and others. Despite the intent, harmless or kindhearted Social Media posts may violate Privacy Rules, Kaweah Health policy, and the Behavioral Standards of Performance.

All staff are expected to use appropriate professional ethics and judgment when using Social Media. Employees are expected to maintain confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Employees may not post any material on Social Medial that is obscene, defamatory, profane, libelous, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, or embarrassing to another person or Kaweah Health.

The Social Medial Policy (attached) establishes guidelines for use of Social Media while at work and when away from work in situations when the employee’s affiliation to Kaweah Health is identified, known, or presumed. Thanks in advance for your review and continued compliance with this policy.

Also, as a reminder, all media contact must be coordinated through the Media Relations Department under the leadership of Laura Florez-McCusker and Mark Mertz.

Appreciate everyone’s support.

Thank you. Dianne
