Junior Volunteer Program

The Junior Volunteer Program at Kaweah Health is for ages 15-18 years of age who:

  • Are looking for a community service experience
  • Want to help others
  • Are interested in learning about various clinical or clerical duties

Junior Volunteers can choose to perform clinical or clerical duties:

Clinical duties:

  • A clinical volunteer helps in a patient-care setting by interacting with patients and clinical staff. Junior volunteers assist on the nursing units
  • Check to see if a patient needs anything after clearing with nurse
  • Give a listening ear
  • Offer a warm blanket
  • Keep the room neat and tidy
  • Other duties as assigned

Clerical duties:

  • Answering phones
  • Data Entry
  • Filing
  • Maintenance of Office Space
  • Other duties as assigned

To become a Junior Volunteer you must participate in a high school academy program. There is a Spring Internship of 100 hours and a Summer Internship of 100 hours.

Your program will run on specific times and days of the week which is determined at the beginning of the internship. Please contact you high school career center for more information.
