Kaweah Health Family Medicine Residency Program

The mission of the Kaweah Health Family Medicine Residency Program is to train family medicine physicians in a nurturing environment to provide high quality, evidence based, multi-disciplinary care while advocating for patient education and access to healthcare for patients of all cultures and walks of life in Central California.

We are a well established Family Medicine program in the great Central Valley of California located about 40 miles south of Fresno and approximately 70 miles north of Bakersfield. Kaweah Health's Family Medicine Residency program can be located in NRMP and ERAS using the following name: [1200500714] Kaweah Delta Health Care District (KDHCD) Program (Family Medicine).

We are based in a large community hospital which is quickly growing into a state-of-the-art teaching center in medically underserved Tulare County. Kaweah Health was granted institutional accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) in July 2011. Six residency programs were since accredited – Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, Surgery, Transitional Year, and Anesthesia - and have all welcomed residents to the District. The Family Medicine Residency is now at full complement as a 7-7-7 program.

A newly constructed Family Medicine Center, allows our residents to learn medicine while serving a deserving underserved community. It is part of Kaweah Health’s primary care and multi-specialty healthcare clinic system, and our residents are caring for patients from throughout Tulare County.

You will enjoy working with a team of outstanding physicians in the field of Family Medicine. You will become equipped to practice in any clinical setting.

Our Family Medicine faculty is joined by a multitude of enthusiastic specialties that welcome a nurturing learning environment that help produce extraordinary Family Medicine physicians. We take pride and ownership with our unopposed inpatient teaching service. Our large network of physicians and residents continually respect and support our Family Medicine program as a stronghold in our community

Should you meet our criteria, we encourage you to apply to our program in the fall through ERAS as we begin accepting applications for interviews for the next incoming class.
