Match Day 2021
Kaweah Health Announces Next Class of Residents
While many know what March madness is, not all know about “match madness.” It’s a time when medical school graduates from around the world learn which residency program they will train in for the next three to seven years
At 1 p.m. on Friday, March 19, also known as Match Day, Kaweah Health announced its next class of residents, who in late June, will begin their residency programs at Kaweah Health. Thousands of candidates interviewed for just 47 spots in Kaweah Health’s six residency programs. On this day, the National Residency Matching program notifies medical students which program they have matched with.

Kaweah Health has accredited residency programs in anesthesiology, emergency medicine, family medicine, psychiatry, general surgery, and transitional year. Each year, thousands of candidates apply for just 47 annual intern positions in Kaweah Health’s six residency programs. Kaweah Health currently has a total of 120 residents in various stages of training.
Resident physicians will begin orientation at the end of June, before starting their rotations Kaweah Health. When they are not caring for patients, resident physicians will train inside Kaweah Health’s Margaret Foley Graduate Medical Education Center. The center houses offices, classrooms, conference rooms and opens up into a newly expanded Lynn Havard Mirviss Education Center where resident physicians can be observed training on SimMan®, a portable and advanced patient simulator that challenges and tests clinical and decision-making skills during realistic patient care scenarios.
