VISALIA – The Visalia Medical Clinic unveiled a new website recently, the culmination of a process that began shortly after CEO Paul Schofield arrived in 2019.

“Our physicians came to me and said we need a new website,” Schofield said. “Our clunky old platform was not interactive and it was time to change.”

The new site, at visaliamedicalclinic.com, is part of a rebranding project, shepherded by Kaweah Health's Marketing Department. The new site offers user-friendly features like online appointment setting, overviews of services, and physician profiles so patients can get to know their provider a little better.

Patient experience stories are also featured, so others can read their stories and learn about the provider who helped them-- giving new patients insight into potential providers.

“The new website is very interactive,” said Dr. Ben Brennan, a VMC family medicine physician. “The patient-physician relationship is very important, and our old site didn’t highlight this well.”

The site now has a video center, with short, informative videos replacing old, outdated visuals. Current offerings explain services and introduce providers in lively, educational pieces. Schofield and Brennan said they will continue to add videos showing the physicians in action and demonstrating procedures, as the goal is to get all physicians at VMC to be in a website video in time.

“With these videos, patients get a sense of the physician,” Brennan said. “Medicine is so personal. A person is opening up to someone they’ve never met before and we want to decrease their anxiety.”

As an example, Dr. Brennan highlighted how new patients can search for a provider by practice area, gender and languages spoken. Just recently he had a patient whose wife wanted a Spanish-speaking doctor. Using the new website, they were able to find one for her.

Dr. Brennan said that on the old VMC website, navigation was difficult. Now it’s easy to find scheduling, physician information, and news about topics like visits during COVID-19 and using telehealth services. “We want to make medicine less daunting,” he said.

The new website also allows for interaction between the Kaweah Health and the Kaweah Health Medical Foundation website, allowing for seamless, easy navigation.
