We learned late last night from Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency officials that Tulare County has its first confirmed COVID-19 case. This person was initially treated at Sierra View Medical Center, and since has been self-quarantined at home, Sierra View officials confirmed in a press release. TCHHSA shared that the individual is in stable condition and is believed to have contracted the virus out of the area. The individual did enter public areas while showing symptoms and the Tulare County Public Health Branch is currently conducting an investigation, it said. Due to protected health information requirements and to maintain the patient’s identity, TCHHSA is not able to further disclose information about this case. The individuals that we have tested at Kaweah Health have all been negative for COVID-19.
We will continue to update our community as this situation continues to evolve. If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or difficulty breathing, please call your primary physician and 2-1-1.
